[gameprogrammer] OT: Request

Hello,

I understand that it is terribly convenient when one desires to ask a question on a topic to simply reply to an existing message, then change the subject to your choice, but I humbly request people to stop doing this.

As many of you may not know yet, many others of us use email programs which sort email by thread, and they do this by reading header information, which is automatically copied over by your email program when you reply to an email. This sorts your new email topic as a subset (a reply) of another already posted topic. Thus, if I want to find an email thread by topic, it requires opening all of the threads to see if it was posted underneath another thread.

There are ways that I can search more effectively, of course, but I ask not for my convenience but for the sake of propriety that when you have a new topic to post, please just click on the "New Mail" button (or whatever your browser calls it) and type in "gameprogrammer@xxxxxxxxxxxxx", or copy the address from another mail and paste it into a NEW email. Keep in mind this also keeps the online archives more searchable for those who may join later and need to search for the answer to YOUR question, making it easier for them to find the solution without having to ask the same question on here again.

In the last month, I see the same thread covering the following topics:
"average price to pay for graphics/ sprites"
"2D math question"
"Scripting"
"Re: advanced game"
"Indy MMOG - How much to charge?"
...back and forth to a couple of the same...
"Database contract"
and now "Visual Studio Built-in memory leak detection"

...all in the same "thread". Pardon if I seem a little bitter. I'm trying to sound more good-natured, but doubtlessly failing... ^_^

Thank you all for your consideration.
