You actually just reminded me of another huge component, and the freedom and
openness is key.  By providing the tools and not dictating how they are used
there is no reason an independent couldn't create his own (new) business
(not a formal corporation).  For example there will be vehicles. A player
might post in-game that he's having a race.  Charge a $10 entry fee, hire
people to help organize checkpoints, define the track on some planet (or
maybe in space) and have a real race.  He'd pay the winner some % of the
proceeds and keep the reset.  This might then blossom into a whole circuit
on a single planet or a universal scale across many planets.  I could even
see the winner being a target for hired "hit-men" or saboteurs.  As the
winner you might need to hire body guards or upgrade your vehicles with
shields.  The concept is a lot like SW pod racing, but in a dynamic game
setting.  The point being, the options are limitless, and I want to provide
the flexibility to let players do what they want.
