Eh.. How about checking some of the sites that people already suggested, or the
book and wiki you just mentioned ?
I suggest you start with a game without levels, well, one level.. As suggested
by someone else, do Pong and work your way up from there. Don't try to do it
all without experience, this takes time... And you do one step at a time.
Study a bit, www.gamedev.net http://www.gamasutra.com/ are sites I would
recommend. Practice, do small test, learn the right way, if you are lost,
google and check the dev sites. And when you are stuck, ask here.
Other suggestion, a bit evil: go ask your parents for a large amount of cash,
and then hire a game development team to do it for you
