[gameprogrammer] Re: Favorite Game

On the contrary... Look at it this way: Most people will probably buy
about one game every month or two -- $25-50 each month. However, is you
have an MMOG you play, then it's at most $15 each month, and you'll
always have something to play, so you don't have to go out JUST to buy a
new game 'cause you've already beaten the ones you have. That's how I
justify it, anyway. ^_^ Granted, if a lot of cool games come out one
month you'll hafta spend extra, but there's always the option to
deactivate your account for a month or two while you play other games.
I do that QUITE often!

BTW, I'm playing FF XI and City of Heroes (the latter of which my uncle
got me hooked on, but I like it 'cause it's SIMPLER than most MMORPGs
out there. You can sit down for an hour or less and DO things, whereas
FF XI and EQ, etc... you have to be committed to several hours of
contiguous gameplay to get anything done, 'cause you need a big party.)

There's my $.02 on the subject of MMOG cost justification. (plus a
little extra.)
