Have you played either of the "Hidden and Dangerous" games? The first 
one was buggy as hell, but the gameplay made it ultimatly an enjoyable 
game. If you saved often..... The second one is built on the ls3d engine 
(the engine "Mafia" used. Thats another of my all time favorite games :) 
), and is excellent. Big outdoor locales, multiple ways to achieve 
mission goals, excelent interface to control your team. The "multiple 
ways to achieve mission goals" is a function of the freeness of movement 
through the maps, rather than the designer programming in 3 set ways.
