Wow, I thought, finally something I can help with! I am trying to learn,
just lurking in the background, reading posts, helps, so, joining a list
like this is good and the value of lurking is highly underrated.
Programs like Bender, etc. and where to get them. A list of sites, and great
books is also helpful. My most treasured one, so far is Object-Oriented
Programming in C+ Robert LaFore, and another is Game Design, Secrets of the
Sages Second edition edited by Marc Saltzman

Probably not really adequate for a begginer's course, but thought I'd
mention "Real Time Rendering". It is quite a good book to make the
transition between the basics (drawing triangles) and a real 3d engine.
The web site is also full of resources of all kind on the topic, even if
you don't want the book :
