I've not tried the new FTEditField subclass so I can't offer
anything specific. But, I will say that given the general
experience level of folks on the forums it needs to act exactly
like an editfield out of the box. In other words it needs to be as
"drop in" replaceable as possible with the same properties and
events so newbies don't get (overly) confused.
Functional compatibility with the EditField is not one of my
goals. I have thought about it a lot and it will be like chasing
the wind. There are many things in the EditField that are just
plain stupid as features. Heck maybe one day RS will modify the
EditField to be more like the FTC!
I will look over the EditField properties and methods and see what
I can harvest that makes sense. This will probably be a
point release after 1.0.
In my spare time (ha!) I'll try this with an old project of mine
that has some editfields and give feedback that way. Probably be a
few days.
I think the only thing the example program needs is an inspector.
Something that updates font names, sizes, colors, paragraph
alignments and so on in a reasonable manner and you're good to go.
You cover some of that with the Format menu but that's not the way
most apps go these days.
The interface I have put in the demo application is not meant to
be a guide on how to implement a GUI in a final application, but
to show you how to access the FTC functionality. But having a set
of preconfigured pallets and dialogs you can drop into application
if you so desire is a good idea. I'll put it on my to do list.
