come to terminal.......
login there........

stop gdm........
*sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop

*create new xorg.conf file
*sudo Xorg -configure
*
backup current xorg.conf file
*sudo mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.bkup1
*
move the newly created to X11 folder
*sudo mv xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf

*start gdm
*sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start*
..............................
