***This is a message from a member of Friends of Students for 60,000*** Hola. I spoke with Renee Ortiz of the Suffolk Co. Legislature. She is dep. clerk or something like that. She is on the commission appointed by the legislature to investigate hate crimes in Suffolk. The fourth and final meeting of the task force where the public is permitted to give input is Oct. 6, a Tuesday night, at Suff. Comm. College in Brentwood. She said that at 5:30pm there is to be a presentation by S.C.Police Dept., then at 6:30pm the public portion starts. She welcomed the testimony of students. I plan on speaking. I guess if kids were to their parents ought to know. It will be on the record. I plan on speaking about positive things, so all is not negative/criminal in the legislature's minds. I know this conflicts with the club's regular meeting, but maybe a few kids could go and miss the meeting, or come into it late. Maybe Ms.Ortiz can let kids, should any be going, speak toward the beginning of the meeting so they can leave for their meeting. Millie, I think you'd make a great speaker if you want to participate.
