RALLY AT SEN. SCHUMER'S OFFICE FOR JUST AND HUMANE IMMIGRATION REFORM

On February 11, 2010, Long Island residents, labor, clergy and many others,
will hold a rally to support Senator Schumer to move quickly on his
commitment to introduce just and humane immigration reform now.   In no
uncertain terms, Senator Schumer  told President Obama  yes, we can pass
comprehensive immigration reform.  "All of the fundamental building blocks
are in place to pass comprehensive immigration reform this session and, even
possibly, later this year." Long Islanders are tired of political rhetoric
and of the pundits, who say that the prospects for comprehensive immigration
reform look bleak.  Join our rally to  tell ". all of these naysayers, and
to all of the people who are so desperately looking to their Government for
leadership on this critically important issue, I [ Sen. Schumer] say this-it
is darkest just before the dawn, and I promise you, we've been through the
darkness and a new day is dawning".  Real political leadership is needed to
fix our badly broken immigration laws. Today our broken immigration system
keeps families apart, facilitates the exploitation of all workers, and
ensures the off-shoring of jobs that help corporations and Wall St. maximize
their profits.  
With our support we can make sure that as the Chairman of the Immigration
Subcommittee, Sen. Schumer realizes his commitment to  "work hard each day
to achieve immediate positive results while never losing sight of the larger
goal for comprehensive immigration reform."
