The candle wax in Sonnet caps is a myth! The inner cap seals well, the
hole is in the outer cap and doesn't affect dry out of the nibs. This
one has been tossed around for years, let's try not to perpetuate it
further!
The early first version Sonnets had a single crooked feed channel.
Those are the ones that write dry, it's just hard for the ink to make it
down a winding lane. Later Sonnets have a straight dual channel ink
feed eliminating this problem. Although, that doesn't mean an
occasional dry writing Sonnet might turn up, but it won't be because of
the breather hole.
I'm not positive, but Parker Service was exchanging these on request,
they probably still do.
Good Collecting! Sam

The Sonnets can be from average to excellent writers. They're well made
and should not have any reliability issues. Those with the drying
problem have had some success with dripping wax from a candle into the
cap to cover the "breather hole". I think it has been the recent
production that has had the drying problem. Two that I had wrote w/o the
problem, but they were in nearly daily use and were not idle for more
than 24 hours. They were sold and I moved on.

Hello Everyone,
I'm thinking of adding a Parker Sonnet fountain pen to my small
collection. A web search brought up a number of complaints about the
pen drying up rather quickly.
I'd very much like to hear from users of this pen. How good of a
writer is it, and are there any reliability problems that I should be
aware of?
Thanks in advance.
