His Nibs.com update --
Lucky David in Sedona
July 22nd, 2007

It's been almost a month since our last
update, so there's lots of new additions to
the website (too many to summarize in the
title, so I've combined three of them into
'Lucky David in Sedona). You can also view
the new 'What's New' video on the
homepage, which will cover much of the same
ground as this update.

After a year's hiatus, we'll be attending the
D.C. Supershow http://www.pencentral.com/ in August...
and hope to see many old -- and new -- friends there. To
commemorate the event, Private Reserve has
added Electric DC Blue to their DC
Supershow Blue and Supershow Green inks. They've also
created fast-drying versions of
Sherwood Green and Midnight Blues, joining Ultra Black
(all three in larger, 2 oz. bottles).
Although Private Reserve was forced to raise
their prices to $8.40 from $7.60 for the
regular-sized bottles (after holding steady
for 7 years!), I've just accepted a large
order and will be maintaining my $7.00 price
for the immediate future.

Monteverde has added a breathtaking new
addition to the Artista line of pens...the
Artista Deluxe Sedona. They've also
given new life to the venerable Invincia
line, with the introduction of a new, larger
nib for the pen. I think you'll agree that it
adds to the balance of this oversized pen.

The Delta WE 'Lucky' pen has expanded its
line by adding a 'Dolcevita'
version...Delta's classic yellow resin. I
have a few of them in stock now (all three
versions actually).

The Palace has been re-stocked with a
classical 'David' ballpoint deskpen, a
'School boy' desktop valet, an Art Deco
pen/card holder and 'Sword' pens (which in
effect lays to rest the age-old conundrum of
which is mightier).

Additionally, the Gargoyle Pen Chalice has
once again returned.

Monteverde Artista Deluxe -- Sedona

http://www.hisnibs.com/deluxe%20artista%20pens_small.jpg

The newest addition to the magnificent
Artista line is one of the most gorgeous pens
I've ever seen. It's difficult to capture the
variegated beauty of the special, limited
resin used in its construction. Obtained in
only a small quantity, this Italian resin
quickly had the folks at Monteverde referring
to the pen as the 'Sedona', reflecting upon
the great natural beauty of the rocks in that
portion of Arizona. There was only enough
material to create fewer than 300 of these
gems...so I don't expect them to last long.

Delta 'Lucky'

http://www.hisnibs.com/3GroupUncapped_small.jpg

There's some understandable confusion about
this pen -- and its name. It was originally
named the WE, but due to the good
fortune associated with the peppercorn hidden
in its clip, it's been renamed the Lucky.

What's not up for dispute is that the latest
version of the pen -- using Delta's famous
'Dolcevita' orange resin -- is a definite winner.

Black in newly reformulated fast-dry versions
(regular Sherwood and Midnight are still
available). All three come in a larger, 2 oz.
bottle.

Monteverde Invincia grows up

http://www.hisnibs.com/NibsOldNew_small.jpg

As of July, 2007, the Invincia fountain pen
(all models), has been re-designed with a
larger nib! The Invincia has always been an
oversized pen -- with an undersized nib. Monteverde has listened to its customers and
has retro-fitted the model with a new
section, feed and the new large nib first
exhibited by the Mega
M3 http://www.hisnibs.com/mega_m3.htm combo pen. The pen now measures a full 6" with its cap posted, and the overall look of the pen is now much more in balance.

In the Palace...classical 'David' ballpoint deskpen

http://www.hisnibs.com/DavidPenMain_small.jpg

This lovely deskpen measures 5-3/4" in hand
or when resting in its pillar base. The pen
is fashioned out of pewter, and the
high-gloss base appears to be chrome. Long-lasting refills are available at office
supply stores, and the barrel twists to
extend and retract the point. Each pen comes
individually gift boxed. An inexpensive way
to add a bit of classic grace to your desk top!

This French-style valet welcomes keys,
jewelry, spare change, and
treasures-of-the-day while adding classic

quality designer resin box with deep tray is
finished in faux bronze. This makes for a
wonderful gift for yourself or anyone who
appreciates organizing in style.

In the Palace...Art Deco Strongman

Showcase collectible pens or business
cards with this heavyweight quality
replica

http://www.hisnibs.com/ManPenHolderFront_small.jpg

If the pen is indeed mightier than the sword,
our Art Deco strongman showcases yours in
artistic Parisian style! You'll want to
proudly display this functional sculpture of
the human form as he lifts your pen or
business cards above the fray of paperwork
and letters. A finely detailed replica of a
1920s Art Deco original, this classic
sculpture is 2 lbs. of authentic, foundry
cast iron and makes a great executive gift
for a home, office or library.

In the Palace...Sword ballpens

http://www.hisnibs.com/SwordPenGroupFan_small1.jpg

The Sword ball pens each measure about
6-1/4". Each quality designer resin pen
features intricate detailing for
authenticity. Long-lasting refills are
available at office supply stores. Each pen
comes individually gift boxed.

The Gargoyle returns

http://www.hisnibs.com/Gargoyle%20pen%20cup%205%20pens_small.jpg

On a desk or credenza, there's no one more
worthy of holding your favorite writing
implements than this crouching gargoyle
sculpture! Cast in quality designer resin,
it's finished in faux ancient stone.

On the blog...Swedish Woman gets superfast Internet

"She is a latecomer to the information
superhighway, but 75-year-old Sigbritt
Lothberg is now cruising the Internet with a
dizzying speed. Lothberg's 40
gigabits-per-second fiber-optic connection in
Karlstad is believed to be the fastest
residential uplink in the world, Karlstad
city officials said.

In less than 2 seconds, Lothberg can download
a full-length movie on her home computer -
many thousand times faster than most
residential connections, said Hafsteinn
Jonsson, head of the Karlstad city network
unit."

and my favorite line:

"...His mother isn't exactly making the most
of her high-speed connection. She only uses
it to read Web-based newspapers."
