RE: Gold, Steel or Other

Really? I find the 18 to be nice and soft, but NOT ALL of them are, I
agree. 14k is nice and is a classic nib and is hard enough to not bend
all around. I also learned (nice English) that it is easier to make a
14kt gold nib more flexible by a nibmeister than an 18 kt gold due to
the softness of the 18kt. I even own a few Sailor 21kt gold nibs and
they write no different than a 14 maybe 18 at the most. They are pretty
thick nibs!!! Especially on my Sailor King of Pen.

Me too -- 14kt over the others. I think it's because they usually feel
softer or just have more character. Most 18kt and above are nails, at
least in my experience.

Gold 14k. But I agree that some steel jobs are terrific. 18k
nibs are okay as well, but I prefer the lower gold content for some
reason.
