Re: Conway Stewart Clip, Nibs, Pen Parts

I think that one of the nice parts of collecting is the way people reach out
and help each other with those little annoying pen problems that crop up
from time to time, or help each other find things they are looking for.

I had a problem with a crappy German seller who refused to respond when my
vac went bad, after he had supposedly repaired it. So Lex Villines
generously offered to send me a new barrel. I haven't gotten it, probably
thanks to the Italian PO, but I really appreciated the thought and the
effort.

I'm not crazy about the idea that everything is about money, Max, which
seems to be the case with you, at least in this matter.
What would it have cost you to share the information about a gilder who
might be able to fix my English friend's clip? Someone with experience in
the field. You could have asked her if she would fix a single clip. My
friend is a well-respected collector in his own right. I volunteered to ask
you because of your post about the clips. He would have paid her. What did
you have to lose???
I wrote to you on Skype: "is this a resource you prefer to keep to
yourself?"
Max Davis: 16:07:35
"yes i make cash from this ..."
Max Davis: 16:20:46
"If the Man that has the omas clip help me with my waterman Project i be
happy to send it for hime"

It seems to me really silly to hold out on information that could help
someone without really costing you anything. If anything, knowing that you
had been helpful would probably be a point in your favor next time this
vintage pen collector wants to pick up a pen.

I really don't have a problem with the advertising, Max. But I was annoyed
with the attitude.
