An Update from Poohcorner

I've had many emails of late from folks wondering how things are at
Poohcorner, or as one friend says, at "Mayberry". Note that I have NO stock of
any
kind left at the moment. If and when I do, you'll be the first to know.

Firstly, I'm busier than a one legged guy at a tail kicking contest. Right
now I'm in the middle of a pre-calculus math mid-term that I hope to have done
today. It's a take home test and requires a lot of research. I'm also
working on my class project, which is a 30+ page paper on the various
mathematical
function families; eeek.

Physically, I'm not making much headway on the weight. The BP is OK. I
imagine the cholesterol is stable (I hope). I've had a lung flare-up and
increased
asthma symptoms for most of the summer and early fall that has kept me from
doing much exercise; no stamina. We've tried antibiotics to not much avail so
now it's large doses of Prednisone for a week or so to see if that knocks
out the inflammation. I think it's working, although if you've ever taken
Prednisone, and thank God for the drug, it can really kick your butt.

Kids are about the same at school, except either they are getting more
squirrely or I'm getting more intolerant as I grow older. In any event, I'm
still
standing at the end of the day after teaching middle school, so I
guess..................I'm still winning! (?)

My curriculum writing project is going well. We meet again next month for
two days at a posh Seattle hotel, where we have to suffer in luxury. I'm far
enough away that I get to stay at the hotel, so it's like a little vacation.
Nice exercise room, heated pool, 3 meals a day (healthy of course!), and a
nice
meeting room with new laptop computers. Ah, to suffer and toil in the name
of education.

Other than that, the weather is changing here as it is most other places. We
have a bit of wind today and some rain. It was a very, very dry summer here
in Western (and Eastern) Washington. That usually makes for floods in the
winter due to hard packed clay ground that doesn't drink up the water very
well.
We put in a sump pump under our house in the crawl space this last year due
to the foundation area filling up with water (about a foot). The water table
just goes wacky around here.

Leaves are falling, covering the ground. I'm penning a few snails before I
go back to tackle my math final again.

I miss the business, mainly the contact. I'm not sure what the future holds
after these project are done and my health tops out. I hear my guitar calling
me and think I'll pick it back up and get serious about learning those
Spanish numbers I've longed to play. Something about a classical acoustic
guitar
that just gets to my soul. Maybe there's some pen business left in there too.
Who knows?

My personal pen collection now fits in a 20 pen case, with room for about 12
or so more pens. All are great writers and since I can't write with more
than one at a time, I'm content............for a change.

Best and blessings! Stop by and say hi if you've a mind to. I check email
every day usually. If you want to snail, my address is below.
