[foxboro] thecassandraproject.org web site

Hi list,

Warren Michelsen, who has been hosting thecassandraproject.org web site
since its beginning, is getting out of the hosting service, so we have
to move the domain to a new server. To take care of this dilemma, David
Johnson of Premier System Integrators has graciously offered up a Linux
box on his network to be the new home of thecassandraproject.org. Thanks, Dave!

David and Jeremy Milum have been working behind the scene to beef up
this box and it's now ready for prime-time. The nameservers for
thecasandraproject.org have been modified to point the domain to this
new server. Most everybody should see the new web site by now, or
within 24 hours depending how your ISP's zone files are being refreshed.

We're still hacking the web server configuration so the URL may look
funky at times, or the domain may not be available at all. Please be
patient during this transition.

In addition to this move, we are exploring several new capabilities for
the site. One is Perl and PHP. (Winston Jenks, I know you're happy to
hear of this.) The other is the collaborative software called Wiki. The
Wiki flavor Jeremy has installed is MediaWiki (www.mediawiki.org). The
Wiki software should allow many people to collaborate on the FAQs, for
example, with nothing more than a browser of your choice. Feel free to
take it for a test drive (the Wiki link is only on the main Cassandra
home page for now).

As usual, all this would not happen without the behind-the-scene
efforts of many people. One is Warren Michelsen, who cajoled the few
early adopters to participate in a mailing list that becomes the
foxboro list today with over 800 subscribers, thanks for your many
years of support of the I/A user community. It's appreciated. Hope you
enjoy your "new" retirement. David Johnson and Jeremy Milum, thanks for
all your work up to now getting this web server up and running. You
guys do good work!

Regards,

Duc
