[foxboro] smon_log file not recording error messages

I am facing some FBM faults . There is * listed for some FBMs and CP40FT 
associated with them. But when I touch the smon_log file in 
/opt/fox/sysmgm/sysmon directory nothing is recorded in it. I am using I/A 
series version 4.3 with AW51B. 
 
Alarms are not inhibited for the CP. Also when I set Date/Time no message is 
recorded in smon_log. The file remains absolutely empty.
 
Can anyone suggest any solution.
