Re: [foxboro] upload timeout errors

The problems I experienced with a Sepoint/Vax/API link came down to links
not being able to be made (blocks deleted, misspellings etc.) and deltas
(all set at the same value, mostly too small). Beware, I seem to recall
that the deltas should be entered in engineering units and not as percentage
of range.

We use Networked FoxAPI, which is a standard Foxboro product, to transfer
data from the I/A to a Vax. The FoxAPI application runs on the Vax and uses
Fortran calls to upload data from the FoxAPI application that is resident on
an AW51. It opens sets, read sets, and sends the data to an old Setpoint
SetCON application. We don't have any problems with overruns, uploads, or
slow display call-ups, and I think this is the standard way to send data
from the I/A to third party applications.

        Subject: [foxboro] upload timeout errors

A while back, I reported a problem we had with the upload function
in our I/A system.
I'm glad to inform that the source of the problem was found to be an
rpc client
program running in an external Vax computer that we use to pull in
data (about
500 variables) into our refinery's real time database. This
interface was causing
a lot of OM scanner overruns in some of the systems' stations. The
problem was
also reflected in frequent slowdowns of display callups. Does any
body know of an
efficient way to transfer these many variables out of the I/A system
?

Thank you all for the tips we got from you concerning this problem.
