Re: [foxboro] stddisp

Hi list,
A warning to anybody that changes the standard detail displays/overlays.
Do not change these! Make a copy of the /usr/fox/dd directory and change
the DM (FV) environment variable DD (which is set to /usr/fox/dd) to
whatever directory you have copied them. By not using the standard
displays and when you are upgrading, you will miss I/A dtl disp updates,
fixes or support of new block type displays. =

Though, when changing the standard default displays in /usr/fox/dd, you
will lose all you modifications at the next I/A version upgrade.
Well, have fun.
Regards

As usual, Alex is right. The detail displays are found in =

/usr/fox/dd There are subdirectories for overlays used for each block =

type as well as a full screen stddisp display file for each block type.

I think the subdirectory is in CAPS such as /usr/fox/dd/CIN and the =

stddisp full screen display is lowercase or vice-versa. In the =

subdirectory named CIN there is an overlay for each button such as the =

ALARM, ALARM TEXT, CONFIG, buttons you see when you look at a block =

detail for the CIN. The buttons on the base CIN display actually call =

up half screen overlays on the bottom half of the screen. There are =

typically nine button positions, (3 rows of 3), that call up overlays =

named CIN00, CIN01, ...through CIN09 or something similar. I also don't

have access to a system right now so I'm going off of memory but you can

figure it out with the info provided. When the stddisp call is made the

system reads the block type of the compd:block provided and then calls =

up the base detail display for that block type such as /usr/fox/dd/cin =

or whatever block type you are calling for. You have to be careful =

about messing with these files because they are layered and generic and =

if you mess that up you could receive erroneous information every time =

you call a block detail using stddisp, but I have also seen =

configuration errors in the default Foxboro detail screens based on =

errors or omissions made by Foxboro on different releases. I think that

is what Rick G. is referring to.
