Re: [foxboro] stddisp

Rick,

I believe this problem is not related to a display but is caused by the
display manager command 'source'.
The DM command calls display D:\opt\fox\dd_1\tmplts\source_ovl (mind, there
are multiple instances of source_ovl.fdf)
The bitextension text is substituted in the field <BITEXT_VALUE> (there are
18 spaces added to this text).
You can enter as much space behind it as you like, it will NOT solve your
problem!
If your C:B.P name length exceeds 12+12+3 (excl. ':') the text displayed
starts to loose characters.
If:
- your PAKIN is in compound TEST12345678
- Your PAKIN is called PAKIN1234567
- and you would have a TEST12345678:CIN.IN = PAKIN1234567.PAKCIN.B12
You would see NO bid extension at all (only the '.')

If you test this yourself make sure you are editing the correct
source_ovl.fdf. I made sure by also changing the text 'SOURCE PATH' to
something different, so when called from the source button at least I was
sure I edited the correct one.
Deleting all the spaces after the <BITEXT_VALUE> will also lead to the
disappearance of the bit extension but, again, adding more does (at least in
my case V7.1 windows, Foxview 9.01 QF1008077) not solve your problem.

If you would make sure your C:B name length does not exceed 22 characters
(incl. ':') then you will not have this problem.

It is indeed something to be aware of!
I did not know this problem existed and I will warn all our users to be
careful.

Thanks for pointing it out!
