Re: [foxboro] soft tools

If you're using an OSI collector and a OPC server on the same machine =
keeep
in mind that:
* the OPC server (DA and HDA) software comes with AIM*AT.2
* the OPC server communicates via AIM*API
* OSI requires FoxAPI to be installed on the AW. The latest version is =
4.2.8
* If you have AIM*AT 3.2 installed and wish to share OM lists between =
FoxAPI
and AIM*API do not use FoxAPI 4.2.8 (QF1005346 for Solaris 2.5.1, =
QF1005387
for Solaris 8 or QF1005388 for NT/XP) This functionality doesn't work =
with
FoxAPI 4.2.8. This only pertains to AIM*AT 3.2

Alex,

We currently apply both PI data collector (PIAPI) for PI Server and OPC =
=3D
Interface for OCS Advance Control Server.=3D20
They run data collection paralelly in single AW, although most of the =
=3D
data are the same. You can imagine how this scheme overload the AW. =
This =3D
indeed not the efficient way of managing data collection.

We are expecting to use the PIAPI Interface for main data collector, =
=3D
while OPC will interface to this PIAPI. This will surely reduce the AW =
=3D
loading finally.
Have you got any information regarding the possibility of interfacing =
=3D
PIAPI-OPC?

Thanking you in advance.

The problem with the OPC Server approach though is that it does not =3D
buffer
data locally on the AW in the event of a network failure. PI's native
collector does. I think that makes it much more valuable.

Both products you mention are supported on I/A series.

PI is supported through OSI, they provide the piclient/piapi interface =
=3D
that
works with FoxAPI.

OPC Server is available from on NT/XP platforms. OPC Server =3D
functionality is
achieved on 50 Series systems by adding a 70 Series box to your
configuration.
