Pat,

Not intended to ignore Russ' comments but if you still want to avoid the
ACLs...  Maybe consider strategically placing the IND block as the last
block in the listing order, and run it at the BPC; typically .5 seconds?
This narrows your window of opportunity to <.5 seconds.  It's not perfect
but better than no other choice, at least until you get some resolution with
the suggested PER.  But I would not hold your breath waiting for PER
results, especially one that affects the most common/critical block; CMP...

Subject: Re: [foxboro] securing compound on/off bit

Thanks for the feed back, I do have an IND block checking to see if the
compound is turned off and if so the IND block will turn the compound back
on but since it is a critical compound even being off for 1 or two seconds
causes equipment to shutdown.  Tech support suggested a PER to possibly
modify the ON/OFF parameter to accept being tied back in on itself after I
voiced concern about using Environment ACL's but since the idea of securing
the ON/OFF bit hasn't been asked for in 2.5 decades I wonder what I am
missing?

Pat,

I am not exactly sure of what you are trying to accomplish but I think it is
a non-connectable but settable parameter so maybe a IND block writing the
desired value?  If/When you want to override this value just transfer the
IND block to manual?

Esteemed list,

Does anyone know of a way to secure the compound ON/OFF parameter other than
the environment ACL's?  I am on a system that has rev 9.1 through 7.6 using
ICC and FoxView 10.4.2, of course the 7.6 box has Display Manager.

Thanks
