Your "scopen" error 36 is "invalid data type" error. One way to check
where your problem lies is to try using scopen in foxtst to open each point
in your pi list. Start foxtst program. Pick 300 (objects). Pick 10
(scopen). Answer "N" to "from file". Access type is 1 for read or 2 for
read/write, be sure to open these points the same as in your PI list. The
next two, rsr and wsr leave at default (4 and 5 I think). As prompted put
in compound, block and parameter for first point. Value type is 3 for
floating point (real), a "?" in the field will give you a list of choices.
This field may be where your problem lies, you may be trying to open a
point as the wrong data type. Put in read and write delta. Leave
"multiples" as 1. OK to add - Y, end of set - Y, num entries - 1. You
should get a "reterr" of 0 if everything is OK. Note the "dset" number.
Use function 16 to close the data set and repeat for the next C:B.P.
If you have lots of points in your PI list this can take a while.
There are probably other ways to do this, this has worked for me.

Dear Kevin,
We used FOXTST utility and found that our FOXAPI version is :
FOX API Version 4.2.5 Copyright (c) Foxboro 1992-1999
Toolkit is SUNSPARC
But this error appears at FOXBAIS.OUT when I built a PI tag with string =
value appropiated to the DCS tag with parameter SN=20
[i.e. COMPOUND:BLOCK.PARAMETER].
I think not related to boolean/long package.
Also, I couldn't find this message in FOXAPI.LOG
any suggestions ?
regards,
edyk

As I recall, error 36 (invalid type) was due primarily to trying to =
write to
packed boolean and packed long with older FoxAPI versions. What version =
of
FoxAPI are you using? I believe the problem was corrected in 4.2.4.
Look at the foxapi.log file (should be in /opt/fox/ais/bin) and see if =
you
are getting error messages. Check the validity and status of points =
showing
up in this log file.
