Re: [foxboro] remote desktop and apitst

We have encountered this problem also, so it's not a configuration error
on your part.

This is only a problem if you use Remote Desktop for Engineering. I
think this is one of those things referred to as "a feature enhancement"
when upgrading to a newer version of software. Welcome to the wonderful
world of Foxboro on Windoze.

Subject: [foxboro] remote desktop

Hello all,

I have a small issue with remote desktop and Aim*api.

As you can see from the following, the API is running, yet when I start
a remote desktop, simple programs like d:\opt\aim\bin\apitst report back
that Aim*API is not running.

D:\opt\aim\bin>ps -ef|grep api

  SYSTEM 2956 952 0 13:07:38 con 0:00
C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k tapisrv

     Fox 5528 5956 0 08:55:31 con 0:00 apimgr.exe

     Fox 3396 3504 0 08:56:12 con 0:02 apisvr.exe -i an_init.tcp

     Fox 5056 3100 0 08:56:12 con 0:00 apihosts.exe

     Fox 6104 4928 0 09:01:43 con 0:00 grep api

I've now found out that, on the remote desktop, I have to run
d:\opt\aim\bin\apistart to make it all work.

My question is, 'why do I have to start the API while it is clearly
already running on the host?'

And when someone else starts a new remote desktop they have to also run
d:\opt\aim\bin\apistart to make it work for them?!?

What's going on down here. Have we made a configuration mistake on the
host or is this just the way it suppose to work?

Cheers,

Frits Schouten,

NZSteel.
