Re: [foxboro] print serving an NT box form a 51 serries

Stan

This is the procedure that I use on a Hybrid
System (AW51B Printer and Control Station Host, WP70 - operator interface).

Not sure if this will work for you but you can give it a try !!

The system should be normally installed and configured . Additionally, you
need to set up printer filtering to be local to the NT system.

To add remote print services on the NT system
1- start
2- settings
3- control panel
4- network
5- services
6- add Microsoft TCP/IP Printing
(the system will ask for the system CD to copy the dirvers from E:/i386)

Now add a local printer on the NT system,

7- start
8- settings
9- printers
10- add printer
11- pick my computer and next
12- add Port_
13- select LPT port
14- New Port_
Enter the I/A Unix Printer Host Letterbug ID, and enter the LPXX name, and
enter OK
15- close
16- select port box
17- next
18- select manufacturer
19- select printer
20- next
21- pick not shared
22- pick next
23- and finish
A test page should print out and the printer should now be available from
both I/A Unix and I/A NT.

Subject: [foxboro] print serving an NT box form a 51 serries

We have a node where some ancilary controls are preformed by a peice of
software runing on an NT box. This software displays on a 2nd head on some
of the 551D's. I would like to make it's "prnt scrren" button print to a
printer hosted by one of the 51's.

Presently all of the Sun boxes on this node can access this printer, so I
thought it would be as simple as setting up the NT box to send to lpd,
giving it the IP address of one of the Sun's and the printer name.

Unfortunately, this did not work :-( Does anyone have any idea how to make
this work?
