Getpars doesn't handle strings. Sadly, neither does the underlying CP
service db_query.=20

The most common approach is to use ICC Driver Task to create a listing a
parse that.

I use my refs toolkit. It contains a tool that will read a set of
workfiles and dump them into a set of ASCII files. There is an ASCII
file for each block type and a record in each file for each block of
that type.

This can be imported into a database for analysis.

The tool kit also has docWF which can do simply queries against the
files created by dumpWF.
