Thanks for the feedback Otto. I don't know if I am correct or not
but I always associated your name with d_edit which was a godsend for us at
the time as we made some major global changes to our displays. You gave us
some valuable help back in the early/mid 90's. As for d_edit, the name made
sense to me, "display editor". Before that we used a tool called "dlc"
which I always associated with "display link checker" but later found out
was the initials of the author, David L. Chang. I knew oma was the German
and maybe Dutch word for "grandma" but I think I correctly associated it
with Object Manager Access.
There have been many very useful, yet often officially unsupported,
utilities developed by creative folks within Foxboro that have tried to
address the "ease of use" issues that users are concerned with. You and
Alex are pioneers that are "correctly" focused in trying to make things
easier for the customer and I thank you for that. Customers have also
developed many intricate applications to help make using Fox IA easier and
this forum is great for sharing those kind of applications!

Sorry Alex,
The only thing I can make of the Dutch 'y' is an 'egg' (-:

Nico Hemkes of our operation in the Netherlands wrote oma. Perhaps, y means
something reasonable in Dutch? or maybe he ran out of letters?

That is helpful. Thanks Doug! But Why "y"?? Why ask: Why "y"? Because I
am a "why" kind of "guy" and there seems to be no logic to using "y" as
opposed to "e" for "ERROR". Maybe it is because they used up a-x for more
important functions in oma. We may never know unless the original developer
of "oma" comes out of the woodwork to tell us. How about it Foxboro guys!

List,
A helpful hint for those who don't already know ...
Many of the OM error codes and HLBL system/operation run time errors are
documented in the old "oma" utility. The oma utility is generally located
in /opt/fox/bin/tools. From the oma COMMAND: prompt, type "y ERRORNUMBER"
to get text describing the error.
