Re: [foxboro] non-approved printers

Katherine,

Don't forget to check Angel Corbrera's Foxboro printer guide at:
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Peaks/5825/Contents.htm

We commonly use the networked version of foxboro's postscript printers, ie
HP2800TN instead of HP2800, so the operators can use the network port for
printing from the corporate network, and the parallel port for printing from the
I/A system. Having a common printer has several benefits -- nobody steals paper
out of it to put in the corporate network printer, causing it to go off-line in
I/A -- it gets used regularly, so the print head doesn't clog up -- corporate IT
supports it.

I've personally used LOTS of pcl3 printers -- pretty much any PCL3 printer with
a parallel port seems to work fine when correctly configured.

If you have access to the csc site, you can download the current printer install
diskette at:
http://ips.csc.invensys.com/content/tsguides/printers/K0173uwd.zip

It makes a difference if you are talking about using a non-standard printer with
Unix or Windows on I/A, all my printer experience has been with Unix.
