Re: [foxboro] mounting a remote tape drive for backup purposes

        Make sure the logical name is in the /.rhosts file, then from
usr/local of the WP do a wpdmp0_8MM <Awname>.
        I have several very large nodes some running 60+ stations and I
have experienced Fault tolerant CP's going single
        during remote backups because of the node buss traffic, for this
reason I have added tape drives not to every WP but
        to each type of WP (ie. WPA's, WPB's, WPD's etc.)

Subject: [foxboro] mounting a remote tape drive for backup purposes

Hi list,

the setup in our plant is as follows. We're running 5 nodes with 5
AW51's and 9 WP's attached to it.=20
The AW's do have external tape drives, the WP's don't. In order to do a
full backup of a WP we connected one of the AW tape drives to the WP and
boot the WP from cdrom.=20
Questions:=20
Is it possible to fully backup a WP on a tape drive what is connected to
an AW? - without booting the WP from cdrom How can i make the AW tape
drive seeable from WP? Will this backup process (through network) slow
down the machine too much?
