Brian,
The histlnbc program exists to ensure that the historian names match the
installed historian instances.
This will build /etc/histln, histlns, and histlocs files on the station that is
running histlnbc.
For any of these files to be edited by hand all of the histlnbc's across the
system should be stopped.
The /usr/fox/bin/foxapps.dat usually starts foxapi first on boot, so the
/opt/fox/ais/bin/histlnbc file will be running vs. the AIM histlnbc file.
If foxapi is not installed then the /opt/aim/bin/histlnbc file will be running.
Only one iteration of the program can be in existence running on a station.

Subject: [foxboro] histlnbc
Can anyone explain how histlnbc works? Things like when it runs, how often
it runs, what tells it to run, what files it touches and so on..It exists in
a /opt/fox/ais/bin and /opt/aim/bin. We know that it seems to update
(sometimes wack) histlns and histlocs in /etc. We have mostly legacy
historian running and now a few Aim historians running on the MESH side.
Thanks in Advance,
