Hi Alex, Thanks for the tip on setting up a log file for S99. I had actually set the log file up in /var/steve instead of /etc/rc2.d because I was paranoid about an extra S99 file there. I did not glean any useful info from it though, but having a log file would have been helpful in other situations in the past. I like the idea and I intend to set a log file up on all my other machines. The problem with my AW51E is either the motherboard, cpu, or power supply because I have changed everything else out. I swapped memory cards, video boards, pulled the second ethernet card, and tried the diag-switch? = true tests. I was able to get the AW to fully boot while disconnected from the nodebus a few times yesterday, and everything would be normal for a half hour or so. Then it would totally lock up - no mouse movement or keyboard entry was possible. After rebooting I would find various core files in / one time it was from Xsun, and a few times it was just a zero byte file. I finally moved the hard disk, second ethernet card & memory cards into another AW51E and it is working just fine. I also had to swap the nvram chip because of a licensed app I have. Uptime is 16:35 & counting . . . Thanks to everyone for your ideas, Steve Murray Asarco -----Original Message----- From: Johnson, Alex (Foxboro) [mailto:ajohnson@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, December 10, 2002 15:35 To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [foxboro] foxmonitor startup problems Add the following lines to S99FOXBORO #!/bin/sh mkdir -p /etc/rc2.d exec >/etc/rc2.d/S99FOXBORO.log 2>&1 set -x Reboot and take a look in the log file (/etc/rc2.d/S99FOXBORO.log). It might tell you something. I have my S99FOXBORO's setup this way.
