Re: [foxboro] foxboro Digest V9 #177

We have Foxray and agree that it is a very valuable tool for IA.
Since we have (are Stuck with) IA I would like to ask some questions.
I think one of the weakest parts of IA is the CAD is there improvement in
Infusion?
I have hear but not seen that the ability to add time delay to alarms from
within blocks
is available in IA 8.? if not is this available in Infusion.
Is there and has anyone used a SNMP Network Monitor on the MESH? is this a
Foxboro product.
Can anyone give a comparison of Display development in Foxdraw vs Infusion?
Foxboro IA refuses to use SNTP for time synchronization, do Infusion use SNTP?

Thanks

FoxRay can be tuned to gather data ie every 15 min, this only takes a few
minutes max (fast collect)...... Every day there's a full upload (foxray
calls this a slow collect). No stress on the system so far....
forget all about the classic upload stuff which takes ages........the data
is collected and converted on the local station (boothost or any station
hosting CP's, modbus etc) and then pushed in a fast format to the dbse
host. (if I'm not mistaken)
If we have a problem with batches, we can go back and search for operator
actions to see if they made an error, which saves time and discussions,
but offcourse you can also use the OAJ of the I/A for this.

Dirk,

"I mostly use it to track operator changes, (also FOXSELECT changes),"

Does this mean you regularly perform the UPLOAD function on your CP's?
What frequency? Or do you use a change tracking function that gets
advised on all operator changes and therefore does not look for changes
in the configuration database.

Most sites that I communicate with have 45 - 60 CP's that take an
average of 1 hour to complete the UPLOAD. They are reluctant to perform
an automated UPLOAD so they do them manually about once a month.
