On Unix systems we have used "beam up/beam out" and rcopy very successfully,
in addition to the Hummingbird server app for drag-and-drop convenience. We
maintain all copies of all graphics on all stations, and it has saved our
butts more than once having redundant copies. It does take discipline to make
sure that "master copies" are archived and updated, and great care must be
taken when using global Unix commands. We solve that usually by sending
whatever modified drawings we create immediately to one work station where
they are
"blown out to the world" (some 30+ stations). Of course with the new
Windows platform, the drag-and-drop convenience is built in. There, I've said
something nice about the new system.
