Re: [foxboro] foxboro Digest V7 #176

Dear Terrence,

At this moment I am on assignment doing the graphics and block configurations
for a new 2-drum delayed coker for a client in Wyoming.

We are using the new MESH, Windows and CP270's and there have been considerable
"growing pains". My current master database has about 1200 tags, and is still
growing rapidly.

We will interact with a PLC which does a lot of the ESD and other logic. I
have 50 pages of drawings I am trying to correlate, and have only been on it a
week. So far I have 7 graphics and several dozen overlays (mostly for "Are You
Sure?" popups for pump shutdowns, ESD's, etc). This seems more complicated
than a couple of hydrocrackers I have done recently, but I feel I almost have
my arms around the big picture. I suspect we'll end up with around 16 graphics.

I will know a lot more in a week or two. Stay in touch - we might be able to
help each other. You may also be interested in the www.coking.com course being
held in Houston the week of May 5th, which is relatively inexpensive as courses
go.

Sincerely,

Subject: [foxboro] Delayed Coker on IA

From: "Doucet, Terrence" <tdoucet@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

List,

Is there anyone controlling Delayed Cokers with IA ? What kind of CP are you
using CP30, 40, 60, 270 ? Did you get all the control into one CP?

How many Coke drums ?

Is there a safety shutdown like Triconex or Honeywell FSC or other involved in
the Coker?

Are there peer connections to other process areas? Howmany ? Rough estimate is
OK.

Any other information you might care to offer.

I have checked cokedrum and coking web sites but there do not seem to be
control
system specific areas on these web sites.

Thank you,

Terry
