Re: [foxboro] extraneous files?

Peter,

Foxboro Field service has developed and accumulated a list of all kinds of
maintenance utilities. We use this extensively to monitor our system. It
was put together by Doug Cox. It will search for core files. A lot of
these scripts are used by Foxwatch to monitor your system.

Other things this utility does is:

  1 - General Information for AP0PTS
2 - I/A Series System SoftWare Version (SYSLVL)
  3 - Installed Quick Fixes (QF_INFO)
  4 - Re-Boot Status / History (who -b)
  5 - Disk Free Space (df -k -F ufs)
  6 - Disk Mirror Status
  7 - Available Swap Area / Virtual Memory Status (vmstat 5 5)
  8 - Display Date of Last Back-Up Tape (/etc/dumpdates)
  9 - Find Core Files
 10 - Display Crash Files
 11 - Display Contents of Lost+Found Directories
12 - Display Station Dump Files
13 - Display System Log Files
14 - Display CronTab File (root)
 15 - Configured Printers (/etc/printers)
 16 - Printer Status (lpstat -t)
17 - Assign a Default Printer (lpadmin -dLPxx)
 18 - Empty Printer Spool
 19 - Hosts File Configuration (/etc/inet/hosts)
 20 - NetWork Interface Status (ifconfig -a)

Each one of these items have a list of sub menus from which you can choose
more specific tasks.

If you would like more information about this you can contact Doug at
...email address dcox@xxxxxxxxxxxx

All of these scripts are for a unix system.

Subject: [foxboro] extraneous files?

Hi list,
I have just started new year file system clean up.I have removed .dmp and
.core files and was wondering if there are any other file types that can
safely be removed. I have AW51C and WP51A unix boxes. Also are there any
useful tools for this sort of job hidden away on the system anywhere. Good
new year to you all Pete
