Re: [foxboro] dedit from a command window for FoxView displays

DEdit is a Windows tool which duplicates d_edit with a GUI. It does
provide for a command-line interface, which is exactly as Ignacio has
reported:

# dedit -R <filename>

This should generate a connection report named <filename>_conn.txt in
the same directory as the display file (much like the .dmp file). The
help file doesn't specify whether to run the command from
\usr\fox\wp\bin\tools and provide the full display path name, or to run
the command from the display directory and provide a path to the dedit
command. I would try it both ways to be sure that's not the problem.

On Windows, it's in \usr\fox\wp\bin\tools\dedit
On Solaris, it's in /usr/fox/wp/bin/tools/dedit

Running dedit with no arguments from the command line will launch the
GUI on the hosting machine.

The command on Solaris is d_edit. And d_edit outputs to standard out =3D
(screen) so you have to capture the output yourself, like this:

# d_edit -R displayfilename > outputfilename

Subject: [foxboro] dedit from a command window for FoxView displays

Hello all,
=3D20

I am trying to use dedit in FoxView from command line and I haven't had
=3D
lucky. I have a telnet session with an AW51D and I am running the =3D
application in a sh environment. The command line I am using is:

# dedit -R <filename>

Is there something I am missing here? The idea is use dedit in a shell =3D
script to perform an automatic report of a selected list of files. I =3D
know from the B0193WG document that dedit generates a log file in the =3D
current directory but I don't have anything after I run it.

Any helps would be grateful.
