I looked back through some of my old docs and can find no reference to
a "Description" field in my d_edit -L display listings.

In the display builder and display configurator I do not recall ever
seeing anything that might be used as a Description field matching
your documentation.  In Display Builder or Display Configurator what
field are you seeing the description you want to report on?

I wonder if this description was perhaps added after the reports were
generated specifically for your documentation rather than being part
of the configured display?
