Perhaps my understanding is lacking. It wouldn't=20
be the first time. Also keep in mind that most=20
of us on this list are coming at this from the=20
current C:B.P , DM or FoxView frame of reference=20
and we might not have adequate understanding of=20
the new system to know what we would like. I=20
would love to be able to get a report on a "tag"=20
(whatever that means to the new system) that=20
shows everywhere it is used, if it is historized,=20
and what displays it is on. If the tool is SQL=20
or XML doesn't matter much to me. ASCII is going=20
to be cumbersome for maintaining that kind of information.
Seems Archestra and XML are frequently mentioned=20
in the same breath in press releases. And there=20
are a lot of easy ways to import XML into existing products like excel.
Here are a few of the top hits when I google Archestra and XML.

utilizing a single open and scalable software=20
architecture. This powerful common environment is=20
the ArchestrA=AE industrial automation and information software=
architecture.
Built on the latest Microsoft .NET XML/Web=20

ArchestrA software architecture is key to=20
Wonderware's Production and Performance=20
Management Solutions because it facilitates=20
easier integration and maintenance of production=20
systems. All of Wonderware's latest products leverage ArchestrA technology.
ArchestrA technology saves Wonderware customers=20
significant amounts of money because it=20
facilitates the rapid assembly of reusable=20
applications rather than the traditional=20
time-consuming approach to application creation,=20
which involves laborious engineering and=20
time-consuming re-coding to create each new application.

Integration Using ArchestrA Technology & ISA S95 XML Standards
LAKE FOREST, Calif., Oct. 8, 2004 -- Wonderware,=20
a business unit of Invensys Systems, Inc., today=20
announced the release of new enterprise=20
application integration capabilities leveraging=20
the ISA S95 XML standard. The new offering for=20

Generally, the new integration architectures also=20
support eXtensible markup language (XML) and Web=20
services. Under the Web services concept,=20
self-describing chunks of software, leveraging=20
XML and other Internet standards and protocols,=20
are used to facilitate the sharing of data between disparate systems.
