I am not sure I understand. Why would you not have the software if it
was being provided as the reporting package for the control database?
As far as XML goes, it is quite easy to export to XML from a
relational database, but not trivial to go the other way, even if a
Schema or DTD is provided.
XML is for storing data and SQL is for manipulating data. I want to be
able to manipulate that data, not have a second method for storing it.
