Actually, I do remember GEM...played with it for awhile when I had to load 
it to use Ventura Publisher.  It was pretty cool, and performed well, but 
few apps were ever written for it.

Hmmm... that's sort of like saying Bell Labs copied 'vi' from Data 
General..
too long ago for anyone but us old folks to remember.
