When you get the error message that you mention, it may be because you use
REXEC or something like that as the connection method.
Try to use RLOGIN as the Start Method when you are using eXceed. (It is an
option in the Xstart dialog window.
Then again, you could follow Kevin's advise and read a lot... The doc
mentioned mainly covers eXceed up to version 7 (I think) but the general
rules still apply to to all X emulators.

What kind of x-terminal do you have? Is this a PC running Windows with
Hummingbird Exceed used as an x-terminal emulator?
Check and see if you just need to allow Exceed to connect, open a vt100
window from the AW and type "xhost +" see if Exceed can connect now.
After checking, run "xhost -" to disable access control.
Consider reading the excellent setup documentation written by Ron Deen
and hosted by he Cassandra project web site:
http://www.thecassandraproject.org/archive.html, look for xterm.pdf
Which manual were you following in FoxDoc, and which version of Exceed
are you using?
