Re: [foxboro] Wyse Setup

Can do.

On the the Wyse terminal:

Setting up the network configuration:
If you're not too fussed about a fixed IP, I would leave it at DHCP. That will
sort out most of the network issues like DNS etc.
This all if you have a DHCP server on your network.
When using fixed values you have to set the appropriate IP Address, Terminal
name, DNS etc.

A font server must be set up to get the Foxboro fonts to work properly on the
Wyse.
If you have an 51F(blade) or better AW running, you're away easy. It has a font
server installed, but it needs setting up.
Lets say you have a host as a font server, on port 7000, that's named MYAW01
On the Wyse just set up the font server as MYAW01:7000

Setting up the Connection manager:

Add: XDMCP
Next: give it a Description and the host you want to connect to.
Connection style: Query
Connect program Xserver
Window tab:
Window Colors: 256!!!
Window size: default (you can experiment with this if you like)
Ok.

I've not set up Auto reconnect. It's kinda hard to break the cycle if you want
to get back to the Wyse desktop.

On the host:
Check that the files in /usr/fox/xt are set up correctly for your connection.
You should put the following lines in /usr/fox/xt/lib/openwin-init (if that's
the init file you're using)
#
# Turn off screen saver
#
$OPENWINHOME/bin/xset s off
#
# Turn off power management
#
$OPENWINHOME/bin/xset -dpms # won't work on Solaris 2.x
That's about all I can think of right now.
I'm sure Mr Redmond will find something missing. I'm eyeballing him right now
:-))

Cheers,
Frits.

Subject: Wyse Setup

Fritz,

I've been reading the info being posted about the Wyse Linux setups. If it's
not to much trouble do you happen to have a set of instructions on how to set
this stuff up?

Thanks,
