We are using PC's as operator worksations. in (soon to be) 3 locations.
In our case, this is strictly driven by Foxboro's excesive pricing for 
worksations.

I personaly fell that this is not the optimum solution, but have to admit 
that the cost is _very_ stractive, and in a time of bad economy, it's 
tough to argue with.

Here are my main problems with this.

! Does no integrate wll (no rup etc).
2. Risk of viruses.
3. Hard to support.
4. Risk of operators playing with these machines.
