We are using PC's as operator worksations. in (soon to be) 3 locations. In our case, this is strictly driven by Foxboro's excesive pricing for worksations. I personaly fell that this is not the optimum solution, but have to admit that the cost is _very_ stractive, and in a time of bad economy, it's tough to argue with. Here are my main problems with this. ! Does no integrate wll (no rup etc). 2. Risk of viruses. 3. Hard to support. 4. Risk of operators playing with these machines. Hope thta helps, if you want more details, and an explantion of why we dis not use Linux/*BSD machines here, write me of list. ________________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned for all viruses by the MessageLabs SkyScan service._______________________________________________________________ This electronic message contains information from MeadWestvaco Corporation or subsidiary companies, which may be confidential, privileged or otherwise protected from disclosure.
