The most critical item is that if the PC is to sit on Nodebus, it must have
the same 3COM Ethenet NIC that we use.

We license their driver code and modify it to control both the Ethernet port
and the serial port connected to the DNBI. If a different board is used, the
driver will not handle the Nodebus properly.

No, I don't remember the 3Com part number. Sorry. However, someone "out
there" will tell us. :)

We are scheduled to install Aim* Historian V3.2 and Report Writer V5.1 on =
our I/A system running 4.3. We intended to install it on a Dell NT box =
hooked up to our corporate network. But in order to do our network people =
insist the box must be a Compaq. Is there a study out there anywhere that =
would tell me why Foxboro has standardized on Dell PC's?=20

Thanks,

Mickey Kinney
