Brian,
I have never installed the X Terminal Software V2.1. We just usually
edit files in /usr/fox/xt and add the xterminal IP address to the hosts
file. I am guessing it is a sun product so more information will
probably be on the interweb. There were some posts not long ago about
setting up WYSE 5150SE, see Frits' post
http://www.freelists.org/archives/foxboro/08-2005/msg00133.html Also
have a read of Ron Deen's excellent guide to Remote Sessions available
at The Cassandra Project website.

Thanks for the reply.
I saw in B0193UB that "X Terminal Software Version 2.1 or later" must be
installed on the host AW in order to run Xterminals.
Is "X Terminal Software Version 2.1" a Sun product?
Do you have any idea where I can get it?

Brian,
These WYSE terminals have an uncanny ability to make me look stupid, but
so do lots of things, I will have a go at answering your question
though.
I think you need certain openlook fonts if you are trying to start olwm
before starting a display manager. You will want to have the foxboro
fonts to make it looks nice also. These fonts can be served up by a
font server. On the solaris 2.5.1 version of I/A the font server
software has been removed, but on the solaris 8 versions I am fairly
sure it is there /usr/opennwin/bin/xfs??? If you have a linux machine
somewhere you could put the fonts on it and use that to serve the fonts.
We used to use NCD xterminals and the software that came with those had
a font server so we have used that. Also we have used a linux machine
to serve the fonts.

Hi All.
I am trying to configure a WYSE 5150SE to use for remote DM displays.
I assumed that because it runs LINUX, that I could run "xhost +
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" on the WYSE terminal, import the fonts, and be done.
It seems that I was overly optimistic.
Although the 5150SE runs LINUX, it is buried so deep that a command
prompt
cannot be found ( at least by me).
That leaves me with the GUI tool XDMCP to use to connect to a remote
Xclient.
My question is, can AW/WP 51's host these remote X Terminals after a
Day0
install?
Do you have to install extra software on each AW/WP that you want to
connect X Terminals to?
If additional software must be installed, what is it called, and here
Can I
get it?
We were successfully using Apple Mac Mini's for remote DM's.
The new units have Intel CPUs, and cannot run X11 in 256 colors,
therefore
DM and AM are unusable with them. They will run X11 in Thousands and
Millions of colors, so FoxView does work.
We still have many more DM stations than FV, so we are looking into new
solutions.
-Regards, Brian Bates.
