I usually open an xstart application with cmdtool separately from the DM
window and you can do the same for VT100.  Create an executable script
called on your AW /opt/ia/remote_vt100 that looks like this:

        #!/bin/sh
        NAME=3D`echo $1 | awk -F: '{ print $1 }'`
        DISPLAY=3D$NAME:0=20
        export DISPLAY
        /usr/fox/bin/VT100.script      (or /usr/openwin/bin/cmdtool)
        exit=20

Then in the command line of your Xstart application put:

        /opt/ia/remote_vt100 @D
