Thanks Cory and Ron for mentioning the automatic font substitution
disabling. I had already tried that, but that didn't help either. I also
tried removing the Latin font (the one I found was latin1 in the misc font
directory). DM was still having the same viewing issues, while FV worked
fine.
I had decided to give up on Exceed 6.2 and installed 7.1.0.1 with the
7.1.0.2 XP patch and had to obtain the ia font alias file iafonts.ali from
Foxboro to get 7.1 working. Following all of the Windows 2000 steps got
7.1. working for DM and FV.
I also went back and got 6.2 working on XP for both DM and FV by importing
the same ia font alias file after doing all the other necessary config
steps. For 6.2, I left the latin1 font in the misc font database, and there
doesn't seem to be any issues.
Not sure which version we will end up going with now. Thanks for everyone's
help and suggestions.

Wanted to mention the "automatic font substitution thingy" but Cory beat me
to
that.:-(
Another one which is AFAIK only a problem with eXceed 7 and up: try to
disable
the Latin font in the eXceed font manager. Strange that FV works fine
though,
When Latin fonts are in the way DM is OK but FV crashes with a "segment
violation"
Hope this helps
