Hi Terry,
the nice thing about BSD is that you support it _yourself_. Take it and
it's yours. Don't want to release the source code of your work? Fine.
The BSD license places no restrictions on you regarding what you do with
it or code derived from it. On the other hand, the GPL used in Linux
requires you to make available the source code of derived works.
BSD is a complete system which (from a developer's point of view) is
much better maintainable than Linux which is just a kernel bundled with
a bunch of third-party software (GNU's stuff most of it). This is then
called a "distribution". I have yet to find something as easy as BSD's
"make world" in Linux to rebuild the whole system from scratch.
Oh well, I'm getting religious again. :)
