I am also curious as to how many transitions you have, which transitions
this particular block is in, and what your transitions times are?

I agree it is a bad idea to do feedback control over a comm line. We
are however issuing commands to start a sequence or change a batch time
via the fox interface. The feedback that this has occurred is what is
taking so long. Yes all of the scan rates are set to 1 second.

Alan,
We are not doing write backs, only reading data. As my personal "law of
control" I only do control hardwired. Josh, you want to chime in on this
one? Since we are doing read only on the data I can't comment on what
might be causing this. I am assuming that your scan rates, period and
phasing is all much faster than the 5 seconds. Even though we don't do
writes via the 224 would be very interested in what is going on. Thanks

Troy,
What is your experience with latency on the FBM 224. We just
implemented a solution using a FBM 224 to talk to a Control Logix via a
Prosoft Modbus mdoule. We are seeing around 5 seconds of latency from
the time we issue a command til we get feedback confirmation. This is
longer than I expected. I am not sure where the delay is occurring.
What's your experience?

The loading is the same on the CP60 as if you were using standard blocks
i.e. period and phasing. Now, I have not seen it loaded to 2000 points
so I can only take the sales side. We are using the 224 to talk to an AB
on a Solar Turbine. Beats the heck out of an AB Station and is way
better than an Integrator. Next step will be to use the Ethernet FBM to
replace our existing AB Stations. That one we haven't tried yet!

great ! 2000 points / sec.
how much does it load the CP60 ? (assuming it's working like this )
we have some issues with loading an ABStation or/and Int30...

Running the FBM 224 (Modbus) ........ what a kicka..... device!!!! It
can handle 2000 point at a 1 second scan. It is a little tricky to
configure, but not too bad make sure and read all the way through the
documentation as I felt like some of the step were slightly out of
order. Has been a while since Josh Nix and I set it so I don't remember
all of the details, but it wasn't as bad as doing an Integrator 30.
Current project calls for Modbus and Profibus (tied to Siemens PLCs).
Not there yet, but sometime after the first of the year. Troy

Troy, What kind of comm FBM's have you ?
are they a "big step" from Integrators 30 and others ?
thanks

We are running 6.5 on several B Boxes with DM and the old historian. No
problems at all. Reason we went to 6.5 was for the new communications
FBM's which are really great. Of course you have to have CP60's as well.

Anyone have an opinion on what Rev I should goto. I am currently
running 6.1 with "B" boxes. Foxboro is telling me I need to goto 6.5 to
resolve a few issues with my one new "F" box. I don't plan to change
hardware but
over time will move to more "F" boxes. Will 6.5 run with B boxes? I
also
plan to stick with DM and the old historian.
Thanks,
Brian
