Re: [foxboro] Update save_all script

Hi Ron,

Thanks very much for the new script. I have been using the other version
extensively and it has been invaluable. I always hated shuffling a dozen
floppies around for savealls, & never trusted the floppies anyway.

With your script there is never an excuse not to do regular savealls & a
saveall after any CP modifications!

Subject: [foxboro] Update save_all script

Dear all,

The Cassandra site has since long hosted the "save_all.sh" script (A utility
that can save you time and money maintaining the save_all's for all control
stations and integrators on your UNIX and NT based I/A Series sytems)
maintained by our Field Service and Installation Groups.

We are constantly using this utility ourselves which has led to the desire
to make some changes to the tool. We have had some requests for
documentation to go with it and we decided to sacrifice some spare time on
it. A PDF version of this manual is in the ZIP file found at the location
indicated below.

Please find the latest version at
http://www.thecassandraproject.org/archive/save_all.html

This latest version supports this new functionality in addition to the
standard features found in previous versions:

 - Log files are now kept with the save_all action in the "log" directory
under the save_all home directory
 - volumes are now part of the save_all procedure (by request of
TotalFinaElf Vlissingen)
 - the external configuration file "save_all.cfg" has been enhanced.

and of course some bug fixes along the way. (Take a look at the script
listing in the manual, It has a section with the revision history which
shows the bug fixes).
If you are using the "save_all.sh" script please update to this new version.
It is "backwards compatible" so no harm is done.

Your comments are welcomed by: Ron Deen (rdeen@xxxxxxxxxxx) and Marco de
Waal (mwaal@xxxxxxxxxxx)

Happy Holidays to you all

Thanks
